FAQ'S

 ACCESS:

There are a number of steps up to the property and all bedrooms are on the first floor. This may make the accommodation unsuitable for those with mobility difficulties. The Suite bathroom has a shower over the bath.

ACCOMMODATION:  

The Suite accommodates 2 adults in a double bedroom with the option of accommodating an additional adult or 2 children in an adjoining bedroom (max 4 guests in total).

MINIMUM STAYS:

The online booking system reflects our minimum stay policy as follows:

October to May:  Minimum two nights

June to September:  Minimum three nights

However, rooms are let out for two nights during high season if there is last minute availability.  In this instance, please contact us by phone on 01556 620 330 to book, thank you.

 ARRIVAL:

Arrival time (including dropping off bags) is between 4pm and 9pm or later by arrangement.

DEPARTURE TIME:

Latest departure time is 11 am.

CAR PARKING:

There is private parking for guests situated outside the house.

FOOD:

We offer a range of breakfast options including a full Scottish breakfast, vegetarian and lighter options. Evening bar meals are available locally in Kippford with last orders taken for food at 8.00pm. Inns and restaurants within a 20-minute drive include traditional bar food, Chinese, Indian and Italian options.  The opening of hospitality businesses is subject to Government guidelines at the time of your stay.

WI-FI:

Roughfirth House has free Wi-Fi access in all guest areas.

ALCOHOL:

Guests are welcome to bring their own wine and drinks. A corkscrew and wine glasses are provided in each guest room.

COTS AND HIGH CHAIRS:

Due to low demand for these items, guests are advised to bring their own travel cots and high chairs if needed.

NO PETS AND NO SMOKING:

We regret we do not accept pets. There is strictly no smoking in the house and the grounds.

COVID-19

We operate from Friday to Monday inclusive.  For anyone concerned about COVID-19, operating part-time means that your room will have been empty for a minimum of 3 nights and it will have had a full anti-viral clean before your arrival.

We have a requirement that all guests must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This is because the majority of our guests fall into the at-risk bracket and our priority is their safety and wellbeing.

Once you have made a booking, we request that you do not travel to us if you are unwell. We are flexible in these circumstances and can arrange alternative dates for your stay.  

PAYMENT TERMS:

The full amount of your stay is required on booking.

We accept secure payments by Visa Debit/Delta, Maestro/Switch, Visa Credit, Mastercard and American Express.

Once you have made a booking, you will receive an email confirming your payment, your dates, the number of guests in your party and directions.

CANCELLATIONS:

If a booking is cancelled at any time before arrival,  your paid funds will be refunded less a charge equal to the first night of your stay.

In all cases, you will receive a full refund if we are able to re-let the room for the full duration of your booking.

As a small business that relies on advance bookings, it is often difficult to re-fill rooms at short notice.  In the event of a no-show or booking reduction (after arrival date) the full cost of the booking is charged.

We advise that you have travel insurance to cover you should you need to cancel.

WE'RE GOOD TO GO

Our priority is guest safety and wellbeing.  

We follow government and industry guidelines which include anti-viral cleans, mask-wearing in public areas and access to hand sanitiser.

We require that all guests are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
